used this for setting timing on a v6 merc outboard. The action is smooth without binding and returns to 0 each and every time. accuracy was good for my application with no issues. the plastic case is also nice and keeps the indicator safely stowed when not in use. i used a one inch extension to get the proper length and it fit the indicator stem exactly with no threading issues. with proper care should last a long time.

As inexpensive indicators go this one is at the top of the heap. Smooth operation, fit and finish look good.Comes with an excellent case and the lid has a real hinge - not one of those "live" hinges that eventually break.

I performed several Industrial motor alignments using this dial indicator along side my starrett indicator. The only thing I noticed is that it takes a few tries getting it to stay on zero while setting up the bezel. As far as accuracy, it provided the identical reading I took with the starrett.

When I opened it up to test it, the dial's indicator got stuck half way and didn't come out. Taped it with my finger and it released, but it still gets stuck when you dial it past .500Amazon's returns center was no help. The policy for refunds and returns is vary inconvenient for someone who's not at home all day on a computer, waiting for some guy to come grab it. Probably a good brand, this was just my experience.

Reasonable quality, but the stylus was a bit sticky on initial use.
