Liven 8 bit warpsThis is a very good cheap synth. Sounds much better the new Roland line at the same price and better than any korg volca. Also sounds fuller than my korg minilogue xd; which it has replaced in my jam set up. The moiniloge xd is better in most ways but was too thin sounding to hold up in a jam with my mostly moog and dreadbox set up.It is pretty versatile and if you are into synths for nostalgia and grew up in the 80s or early 90s; it will scratch your itches. Effects aren’t that good though and adding some good verb should be a first priority.For two hundred bucks there just isn’t competition. Buy this or save up for microfreak if you want a synth, or model cycles if you want a groove box. This plus a cycles would be a pretty rad budget set up.

This is a wonderful digital synth. The 8 bit tones are usable in many application. Every button is labeled which is kinda overwhelming, but with enough focus it's easy to find any adjustable parameter and setting. I've heard some people don't like the sequencer, but I think it's awesome. You can program out just about anything at a few layers. They only challenge is memorizing the 9 million clearly label buttons. Would highly recommend for the money.

If you're looking for that classic NES/SNES sound, then this is the groove/rhythm box you're looking for. The presets are great all on their own but the sound design possibilities here are endless. This thing is a steal for the price. Sonicware makes rad devices.

I love this synth. It has so much going on and though intimidating at first, it is very user friendly and feature packed. I will certainly be getting more Liven series synths.

lots of connectivity, too many pros to list - if lo-fi sounds is your thing you unlikely find something as powerful for better price

I wish I could have kept this but ended up returning it. I was looking for a grove box that could handle multiple tracks simultaneously. The Liven 8-bit has a function that is almost a workaround for that, but not quite. It just did not fit my needs but I can see where it would be extremely useful if you are using it with a DAW or some other midi controller with other instruments. But people who have called it a groovebox haven't done it any favors. That's not what it is. It's a very good 8-bit sounding synth. And that's all it has to be.

Beautiful synth with multiple engines, an 8 bit masterpiece. Love all the knobs and the way it’s setup. Sounds beautiful.

Doesn't sound quite as 8 bit ish as expected and is very easy to negotiate through. It really comes to life when connected to another sonicware liven like the beats for instance

「8bit」という言葉に惹かれて導入してみました。【製品】メーカーの上位シンセサイザーから特長あるシンセエンジンの一つを取り出してステップシーケンス向けのボタンを設けてグルーブボックス寄りにしたものですが、上位機種には無いルーパーを装備しています。【外観】A4長辺とB5短辺を組み合わせた大きさで馴染みのあるものです。邪魔にならず操作に影響が出ない大きさだと思います。操作子は上から音色向けのノブ、機能選択ボタン、シーケンスなどのステップキー、設定呼び出しを兼ねた鍵盤キーと並んでいて迷わないです。ステップキーと鍵盤キーはグリッサンドがしやすい高さと押し心地です。表示部は4桁の14セグメントLEDで筐体に似合ってます。【音】「8bit」の文言からやたらとピコピコデジタル音を連想しますが、いざ聞いてみるとそんなことはありません。勿論アコースティック系の音は難しいです。登録されている波形の混ぜ方の違いによる4種類のシンセエンジンが搭載されています。元になる2つまたは3つの波形の混ぜ具合だったり、発音途中で切り替えたり、時間で推移したりと、同じソースでもシンセエンジンを切り替えると出てくる音がかなり違うので面白いです。時間で推移するタイプはオーガニックな感じで「8bit」デジタルな予想を覆すものです。ノブの操作も記録できるパラメーターロック機能もあります。次第に変化させる表現もいきなり変化する表現も出来ます。複数のステップキーを選びながらパラメーターロックも出来るので、等間隔または連続で同じ表現をさせたいときに便利です。本体の大きさの割りには大きな音が出るスピーカーが内蔵されていて、バッテリー駆動可ということもあり、遊びたいときにさっと遊べるのも良いです。【ルーパー】シーケンサー内蔵モノパートシンセサイザーは結構世の中に出ていますが、マルチトラック実装のためにトラック分シーケンサーを装備するのではなく、ルーパー内蔵となると少数なのではと思われます。単にルーパーを内蔵したのではなく、録音時にシーケンサーのステップと同期して録音先のルーパートラックを選んでおけば録音開始と終了が自動で出来るセミオートとも言える優れモノです。しかもシーケンサーは録音終了時に一時停止になるので、曲の展開を次々と変えていくときに便利だと思います。任意のステップ数で録音出来るので、トラック毎に異なるステップでループさせて一風変わったリズムも出来ます。また、1トラックは外部入力用というのも面白いです。搭載しているルーパーはよくある重ね録りタイプでなく上書きタイプです。ルーパーは4トラックあるのでこの仕様で良いです。ルーパーの搭載はこの製品を非凡なものにしていると思います。【要望】強いて挙げるとすればエフェクトがさらにもう1段かけられるといいかとも思います。【まとめ】ハードウェアの8bitシンセという珍しさに加えて、バッテリー駆動かつその場で音が出せるお手軽仕様に拘らず操作し甲斐がある仕様でまとめられておりとても良い印象です。価格も手頃です。
