The Westinghouse 0101000 Saf-T-Brace allows you to safely install your ceiling fan or lighting fixture in four easy steps--without having to access attic space. Ideal for installation during remodeling, the mounting brace can be installed in finished ceilings through a 4-inch hole. This brace is compatible with ceiling fans up to 70 pounds. The Saf-T-Brace comes with everything you need for installation, including easy-to-follow instructions. Each end includes four teeth for an extra-strong grip and screws into joists independently for added security and stability. For added ease, the electrical box can be positioned anywhere on the brace to fit your project needs. It works with existing ceiling joists between 16 and 24 inches wide. The brace's 15-1/2-cubic-inch, 1-1/2" deep, dual-mount electrical box provides 8-32 threads for cover plates and lightweight lighting fixtures and 10-24 threads for ceiling fans and chandeliers. It also includes a Saf-T-Cap to protect bolts and wires during drywall installation and painting. The brace is UL/CUL listed to support light fixtures up to 150 pounds on 16-inch centers and 50 pounds on 24-inch centers. It supports fans up to 70 pounds. Product reference number 01010.

This product exceeded my expectations. It was easy to install and is very sturdy. The seller was excellent and item was exactly as listed. My only question is WHY IS WESTINGHOUSE STOPPING THE MANUFACTURE OF THIS ITEM??? I GUESS BECAUSE IT WORKS TOO WELL. The other types are not nearly as strong as this one.

Great mount. Only thing i was lucky to have attick access to it cuz otherwise i don’t know if i was able to to tighten it down through a small hole, or you would have to cut the drywall down, but that is the whole point in buying one of these. i just wish the mounting pole would be the shape of a wrench so you can tighten it with a tool and not with a bare hand. 4 stars from me. only because it is hard to fix it in a position really nice and strong by bare hand through a small hole.

Loved the product!Hung a new ceiling fan where previously there was nothing there. This is a good, strong, beefy hanger. No second thoughts...Buy this one!

Easy to install and screw in. Very sturdy and rugged. But, be sure to buy a mold ring along with it because you may need to adjust the hole { cut out sheet rock } for the perfect fit.

Very heavy duty and will support any light or fan I would ever use in my home. I ended up in the attic space to install instead of going through the ceiling. My home was built in the early seventies by carpenters who took pride in using a lot of big nails to anchor electrical boxes. The opening was big enough to undo the wiring and no room to attack the very secured metal box. I used a 2x4 and hammer until my wife came in and screamed at the mess the popcorn ceiling was making on the carpet beyond where the drop cloth covered. In the attic, where it was so hot lead was melting, I made my way to the box and removed it along with a pound of nails and installed the brace. One more to install late this winter.

Let me start out by saying the only reason I rated this bad is because the bar that goes across is round, so the bracket that goes over it doesn't stay tight (it moves back and forth). The instructions said not to overtighten it, but if you dont the hook is not sturdy and the fan rocks. I guess I over tightened it trying to stop it from rocking because the bolt that holds it together snapped in half. If this cross bar had been square rather than round this wouldn't have been an issue. I did love how you turn it to tighten it into the wood beams.

Device works as claimed but there were a few challenges. You have to make sure your hole will be somewhat spaced between the joists. Might be a challenge w/o a stud sensor.Insulation in the attic may get in the way so be aware of that, especially if it's blown in. That was a real pain.I used an existing light fixture hole which was only 3" in diameter and this required a 4" hole so cutting may be required in your application..Since it was an existing fixture, the old bracket had to come out. That was some work but I used a trick to remove it w/o having to brave the attic (which isn't that the point of using this device after all?),You will probably be working off of a ladder so that presents some obvious challenges as well. Now that its done I'm glad I did it and the ceiling fan doesn't wobble one bit even on high. I give it 4 stars just because the instructional video doesn't really address what to most would be the common sense items I described above. It may be easier for some to go into their attic and do it directly rather than using this but it is a clever way to get a stout support for a ceiling fan.

We had a ceiling fan that wasn't properly installed, this absolutely fixed the issue and made it very solid. Fairly easy to install if you are handy.

No guessing getting the outlet to be flush to the ceiling. Super easy to install!

The current electric box we have on the ceiling is attach to 1 stud, and thus the hole is also right next to that 1 stud. This product has intersecting tubes overlapping each other. In other for this to (theoretically) work, you need to be able to wrap the outer tube through the ceiling hole, but the outer tube starts somewhere in the middle of the joint between the 2 studs (especially if your studs are 24” apart), so that’s impossible if the hole is totally off to one side.

This is a telescopic type , not threaded type. Did not work well for me as my ceiling fixture was at one end of the joist. I was able to get the brace to secure to one side of the joist but since the other side was 22" away turning it to secure to the joist further away did not work. The fixture is durable and sturdy and would work well if the hole in the ceiling is more to the centre rather than at one end. If hole is off centre better to get brace that is threaded type and can secure it self to both sides of the joist by turning it from one side only.
