My local hardware store no longer carries a variety of ball chains, so I had to order for a 1950's era fan. You need to research/Google the sizing, but then the vendor's description is accurate. The quality seems to be good - in my case the pull weight is about 4 lbs and over several angles and a fork hook.. For a one-off item, the savings in time and replacement cost of the fan made the cost of ordering through Amazon well worth it.

This chain worked fine. It just is not as shiny as the one I was adding to. I should have ordered nickel plated, but nickel was so much more expensive. The stainless steel was the correct diameter and only I notice the difference in finish tone.

I buy these chains to keep in my inventory of stuff to 'craft' with. I have little idea what the 'proper' application is for ball chain, so I can't speak to that; but, as to the quality of the material and color, it's all good. Good weight to them and having bought many of the colors available, I can say they are well coated (consistent and durable/thick).The packaging was good, the shipment fast and the price, having shopped around alittle before purchase, was better than most.

The chain was nice when I received it but a couple months later it is rusted, it is used for my tub and shower
