We had low expectations for this but it far exceeded them. The stiff wires can handle dirt and other debris where normal string falls short. Also, you can use it taper the grass near concrete sidewalks or edging without eating up all your string. Only disadvantage is the universal adapters don't work at all on our Echo trimmer. We had to figure out how to attach it on our own, but it's working great.

No instructions included, not really intuitive installation. You must leave part of original parts, but you wouldn't know it until you install and then it won't turn. This seems like a good idea, but you must have a super heavy duty trimmer, otherwise this item is too heavy for the average trimmer... if you go too deep and it stalls, it strains the motor to get back up to speed, takes a couple of seconds to get going again. Doesn't cut grass unless you get down to the roots, regular string is much better for high grass/weeds. I regret the purchase, but it may have its place for some applications.

Bought this because we just built a house so the rocks were just eating string... but this worked great most of the summer and was so nice not to have to change string all of the time... but then it was just gone we only got through 2 months of weed eating and we had to go back to string because it was it was completely gone.

The fit is important to your specific weedeater, and it surpasses the hassle of weedeater string. The money spent on this will by far be paid for not having to restring. Performance wise,It rips through heavy grass and light brush easily and out performs the regular string everyone knows. The ease of installation basically falls back to the machine you are attaching it to.
