These cd's were not properly pack. First they have no protection when mail. Not even a box since they came in an envelope. They came in with a plastic wrap, not even in a spindle for better protection. I was able to record one, then they were not finishing the recording and would not play. I thought maybe the drive. I bought new cd's and there was no problem. I don't know why so many good reviews since my opinion are junk. Don't waste your time and money and least buy the ones that come in a spindle for protection.

Updated 9 June 2022:I'm glad that these are again available. There were quality issues with the first package I received, but the second batch was much better. These discs are from Ritek, but made in Vietnam instead of the Taiwan-sourced discs that have been sold under the Maxell name. Performance is about the same, and I was able to get a few of them to work on my old Philips CDR 765 and CDR 870, though as with the Maxell discs the yield for this is low, and batch related. They did not work with my JVC recorder, which misidentified one as a CD-RW. But they work fine on the old LG recorders (Harman Kardon CDR2, TDK DA3826, Aiwa XC-RW700), and usually work with the SONY RCD-W500C, though with the same occasional "fail to finalize" issues seen with Maxell discs.I don't have a way to print labels, so can't comment on the surface quality. I got the white printable variety to avoid having the "Smart Buy" logo taking up a large part of the label area. The white label has a paper-like surface, which I prefer for use with a CD marking pen to the smooth "water-shield" type.On the down side, the defect rate is higher than it has been with the Taiwan-sourced Maxell discs. I kicked out about a third of the first batch as "suspect" for problems that could be seen, and more than half of these for significant voids in the dye. Voids are almost certainly from the manufacturing process, and anything larger than about 1/32 inch is likely to cause a disc crash, either in recording or playback. The first batch also had a lot of scratched discs, most likely due to other parts of the supply chain. These come wrapped in plastic without a spindle, a packaging that seems to result in the end discs being scuffed. But in that first batch, some discs looked like they had been used to play "fetch" with the family dog. Very little physical damage in the second batch, though I found nine with dye voids, all in the same part of the discs. So yes, I was happy to get more of these. The cost is low, the performance fairly good, and the quality issues seem to be mostly resolved. I'm still keeping the rating at 3 stars for the compatibility issues with Philips recorders, but otherwise these are very good discs.

These are getting like gold dust, rare and hard to obtain if you are wanting to record on audio recorders. I took a punt on these and was hoping that they would work and not have to go back. They worked doing a perfect copy and sound fine at a good price. My only gripe is the packaging, once you take the plastic off them you discover that there is no spindle holding the 100 CDs together. Ok, small issue easily resolved.
