I live in hot, humid North Carolina. Even with my two windows in the eat-in area of the kitchen closed with wooden plantation blinds, my kitchen will reach the 80s in the afternoon. I have a window above the sink that gets direct sunlight and I decided that was a problem. I carefully cut, measured, and used the tape strips. I could tell about a five-degree difference in one day. I did not like my kitchen being so dark. I have plants that I love seeing on my window ledge that would have to be moved. I decided I will use this when the heat index goes over a hundred only. I don't think the tape will hold up to removing frequently so I am going to have to decide how to attach the blackout shade. It will make the room dark and will lower your heating costs but be prepared for it to be dark.

Keeps falling down with Velcro. Gonna have to buy separately. Annoying as hell!!!

Coverage wise, this is great however, it’s a big pain in the butt. If you have to make any sort of alterations to the fabric because it is extremely big and it’s hard to cut without the fabric moving around on you. It’s definitely a two possibly a third person job to hang as well.

I did not even bother using the strips included in the package. I knew they would not be sufficient for the amount of light coming in the window. I purchased Velcro adhesive stripping to put around the entire window to create a full seal. It worked like a charm!! Very satisfied!
