I ended up having to replace the trim around one of my doors (I blame the puppy and her claws). Lacking a brad nailer, I had committed myself to the tedious and less-rewarding task of nailing it in with a hammer, but then I came across this clever product.Essentially, these are two-sided nails that can be sandwiched between two surfaces to bind them together from the inside, rather than having to put holes in from the outside.It comes with a tube sized to accept a nail inside of it, but to stop it at the central band (which separates the two parts of the screw). This, along with a hammer, enables you to hammer the one end into the wall, and to then attach the trim over it and hammer it into place. The nail fails to penetrate the front surface of the trim, making it effectively invisible! Take that, brad nails!I also tried the nails out as a means of reinforcing the bond between two 2x6s being attached at a 90deg angle (see attached photo for a photo taken after half of the nail had been inserted). This worked equally as well, being easy to install and not marring the surface of the 2x6s.So yes, these are definitely a convenient thing to have, especially where aesthetics are particularly important.
