This tool is outstanding. If you ever have to remove a Moen faucet cartridge this extractor is a must! My kitchen cartridge was 38 years old and "stuck" is putting it mildly. It was cemented in there. However, this tool zipped it right out. It is truly magical. It absolutely saves you stress and major aggravation. And it gives you real confidence that you can do some of your own plumbing projects. Just do not forget to turn off the hot and cold water supplies under the sink, or if necessary at the water main, before you start working. This is a great product!

When I open the package, I was immediately concerned about the quality of this product. My concerns were validated on the first use. It began removing the cartridge very easily. But as soon as there was a little resistance, the screw which attaches to the cartridge snapped. Now I have to find a way to remove the broken screw from the tool before it can be used again. A stronger screw would definitely be a good idea, since the tool is meant to remove an item that is already a problem. Anyway, don't waste your money on this low-quality product.

I was concern shopper were using then returning. But looks good. Work great. How many time with vicegrip to pull. At 63 I need easy. Pricey but all my shower the same.

Don't replace the valve without one. I tried it on my firs one I did and had a big problem. With this tool the Valve came right out.

This tool screws into the end of the cartridge shaft giving a sure connection for pulling. BUT the nut portion is too small to straddle the cartridge to engage the valve body. My valve body is not screwed to any framing structure. The only thing holding it in place are the 3 half inch copper pipes. I bought this tool because I didn't want to be yanking on the pipes. I was expecting this tool to be pushing the body as it pulled the cartridge. But it won't do that. Luckily mine came out fairly easy. I believe I could have pulled mine out just as easy by screwing a small washer to the end of the shaft an pulling with pliers. But the tool pulled the cartridge and I have a shinny new tool in my toolbox so no complaints.

After struggling to remove the old cartridge we were worried we would have to hire a plumber to replace the cartridge and handle on the old Moen Chateau we were replacing with an updated handle and cartridge. This tool did the trick. It is not cheap, but it saved us a ton in plumber fees.

Bought this tool as I was tired of buying the cheap, pot metal tool from the box stores. This tool itself seems sturdy enough, with some thought behind the design. HOWEVER, they use a cheap, pot metal, screw. This thing broke the very first time I used it! As soon as ANY pressure is applied to the screw, it will twist in half. Don’t waste your money.

Fantastic. Do not believe the MOEN instructions that say that the old cartridge is easy to remove. It is not.

Product was easy to install, no missing parts, and my shower is functioning as it should currently. I cannot speak to the longevity of the cartridge but so far so good.

I noticed box looked small for having a 1222 replacement cartridge and removal tool but the box only contained the removal tool.
