This cross-grained strip is glued to the inside of the back, spanning and reinforcing the joint of the back halves. These reinforcements are arc, which is done after the strip is glued to the back

I appreciate all the other reviews that talked of these arriving in broken pieces. I was prepared to make due but they obviously paid attention to your reviews!! Shipped in a simple carton (in a bag)Thanks all.

I saw that several reviewers gave this product poor ratings because the pieces were not properly packaged and broken upon arrival. I am using these for guitar crack repair, so I wasn't that worried about them being broken a bit. They arrived in a cardboard box. One out of the 10 pieces was broken in half. That's no big deal for me. Other than that, the wood seems to be good quality, and uniform.

About half were snapped in pieces. No pieces less than 6 inches despite seemingly robust packaging. This material is inherently fragile and typically only shorter pieces are absolutely necessary. Still diappointed.

The material is good enough. The problem is they ship them in a thin plastic bag so what you end up with is a bunch of small pieces that are essentially useless.
