I used this to replace the rotten door jamb on my exterior door. It fit well and the weatherstripping fit perfectly after it was installed. It took a fair amount of time to install, about the same amount of time as it took to replace the entire door. The door was still in great shape and to replace it with one that had a composite frame was several hundred dollars. I had to use tapcon screws to secure in place because it was concrete block on the bottom. I replaced the rotted brickmold with pvc version. Once everything was filled, sanded and painted it looks great! I made sure to line up the edges where the groove for the door weatherstripping was and sanded the slight mismatch on the other edges. Being composite on the bottom it should last for the life of the door. Next time I replace the door I plan on getting one with a composite frame. I recommend this and just take your time to install. The instructions were good.

Had a door with bottom rot on the jambs, and did not really need to replace the whole door or go through the effort of a new frame with door refitting. I found this solution and was very pleased with outcome. Very detailed instructions which were helpful. I do have carpentry skills and the tools so this install went very easy. A couple tips for those considering this fix: Remember to shim carefully to get the pieces secured to the framing so when you drive the screws the piece will not move inward, I usually cut the piece a touch long and then make very thin cuts on miter saw to get a tight fit. You can also shim under the repair piece. Comes with a left and right side so be careful. I filled the countersunk screw holes and lightly sanded the entire area and gave the frame a nice new coat of paint Quality material with the composite fused onto the bottom for many years of rot free use. Great product.

I bought and installed a frame saver. First to note the unit is well made and thought out. When you order you will receive a pair of frame savers good enough one door complete. To install you must cut thru the side anchors for the door sill. I drilled and re-anchored the metal sill with tapcons to the conrete slab below. I was very careful aligning the frame saver kit with the original frame. I also added more anchors from the original door frame to the jamb studs to keep the remaining frame in place.

This pair of door jamb repair sections was very easy to install after cutting out the rotted wood with an oscillating multi-tool. Fit was excellent and I would use this product again.

Quality product. Composite bottom 1/3 should prevent rot from happening again.
