I have some standard 19" network gear that sits on my desk. It's designed to be in a rack, but I'm not using that way. I needed a way to put an "air gap" between this gear to allow better air circulation for cooling. I previously tried some soft foam, but it ended up getting compressed under the weight of the gear. These work perfectly. They are not physically attached - they just act as rigid spacers.

I was looking for something to reduce the vibration of the engine on our log splitter which was mounted directly to the steel bracket. Using these between the engine and the bracket made a measurable difference, the engine does not shake as much, lowering noise and helping everything work better.
