I prefer the longitudinal grooves to the spiral type. They hold more glue and form a better bond.

I've used about 30 of the dowels in the one bag of these that I bought. To me the two important points are the dowels are all consistent in size as evidenced by how they fit into the 30 odd dowel holes I used them for and I haven't seen a single dowel splintered, cracked, warped or otherwise "sub-par". They are all very consistent and well made. They hold up well to slight hammering to insure they're set, and being yanked out with pliers when I need to remove a couple - no crushing or splintering. Otherwise, they're dowels and do what we use dowels for, so there's not much else to report on. They've worked perfectly for my projects and I would not hesitate to buy more from this manufacturer.

Here’s my experience, using Fisch Chrome Vanadium & HSS Brad Points3/8†x 1 1/2â€Tried 3 dowels, 2 good fits, one a little loose but acceptable1/2†x 1 1/2â€Tried 3 dowels, all too loose for me. Some may like this for wiggle room?

The size of the dowels are very consistent with a slight bevel to allow being taped into a 5/16" drilled hole in the floor

Good company. Dowels that are too small or too big are pretty much worthless to me, and a lot of reviews complained about that problem with other manufacturers on Amazon. I do a lot of woodworking and I was pleased to find these kiln dried dowels are right on the money. Max difference was .2490 to .2510 which is normal, with many exactly 1/4". I will replace other sizes with this brand from now on.

dowels range in size from .380" to .385, which is too large to fit an accurate 3/8" hole. I was able to shrink them to a workable size by putting them in a 190F oven for 35 minutes. Other maker's dowel pins are more accurately sized.

These are not ½" in diameter. They measure at .465" and are quite loose on a ½" hole.
