Great door for plumbing access.

So they advertise this as “thickenedâ€. I really don’t know what a typical access door is like so I can’t comment on the validity of that marketing. It is a steel panel and aluminum frame. The weight is 6.2 pounds if that helps you gauge the build construction. The paint finish is uniform. I took off 1 star because the packaging needs a little better corner protection. The frame on mine has minor dings / bends on 2 of the frame corners. Not enough to worry about returning it but something they should address at the factory going forward.

I would have given this access panel 3 stars, but it was packed so poorly that it arrived in an unusable condition. There is zero padding protecting the delicate corners of the frame, just a bubble wrap bag, and a very pointless sheet of styrofoam inside the door....and the door is simply sitting inside a cardboard box. What that foam on the inside of the door was supposed to protect is beyond me, but the corners are where the foam was needed. But in any case, while the package itself arrived with no major damage, two of the corners of the frame were bent and warped. I was able to straighten one corner, but the other was not recoverable - plus the finish was cracked and peeling from the initial crushing. And (i'm assuming) when the package was dropped, the frame itself was bent out of square. Which brings us to the overall construction of the frame, which is borderline flimsy. I wasn't expecting a bulkhead door for 55 dollars, but this was really borderline kinda bad. Lots of flexing, and even the simple latch was very loose. So no, I wouldn't recommend this access panel at all. Even if it arrives undamaged (not likely) you won't be impressed by it.

I ordered this 12x16 access panel for hiding / accessing water lines that run through the wall to appliances. The metal construction feels sturdy, with a professional-looking silver finish that works well as-is or can take paint if needed. Installation was manageable with the right screws, though you'll want to measure your space carefully before ordering since the frame dimensions are specific. The door opens smoothly with the screwdriver latch and stays securely closed when shut. The aluminum and galvanized steel materials seem like they'll hold up well over time without rusting. While it's not perfect - you might need to plan your mounting strategy in advance - it serves its purpose as a reliable access panel for basic drywall or ceiling applications.

Good, sturdy access panel. Strong enough for average uses in walls and spaces you need to access occasionally. Would have been better if it was sized to fit exactly between the stud 16" spacing common in homes. As it is, it works, but you may need to adapt the wall mounting a little for a secure mount since it's considerably narrower in one dimension, and too wide to fit the studs in the other. A 14" dimension for the width would be better so you have a little wiggle room between studs since studs aren't always perfectly spaced 16" apart. The construction of the panel is fine. Sturdy enough without being too heavy. It can be painted and finished to match your room. Installation is easy. Overall, a good item for your cabling and access needs that you won't regret installing.

“12x16 Thickened 1mm Drywall Access Panel with Screwdriver Latch, Silverâ€This access panel arrived at my home with the panel’s metal frame crushed in at the corner, and then creased along its width. The box was in perfect condition. You’d never know that it’s a $40 access panel. It looks terrible, and I can’t use it.Such an avoidable disappointment.

The Fancat 12x16 Thickened 1mm Drywall Access Panel with Screwdriver Latch, Silver, is as it’s described. Surprisingly enough, the steel panel door is more than I expected in-regards to sturdiness and gauge thickness from the panel door to the metal flange. The installation was simple and straightforward. The screw driver latch is functional and easy to use. The surfaces are paintable to your one’s own desire. The hinges are simple by design and function. The fit is suitable for most applications.Overall good buy. Works nicely and looks good. And is build very well. It’s is what it is claimed to be.

This is a pretty robust access panel that is larger than I expected. It is good quality made though. It will require a wood frame to be built around it though, so installation won't be as easy as I was hoping.
