Pan head machine screws have slightly rounded heads with short vertical sides. They are typically used with nuts or drilled and tapped (threaded) holes. A metal stud was supporting the drywall upon which I wanted to install a tv mount. The wood lag screw that came with the tv mount would not work in this case. So I drilled a 3/4" hole into the metal stud, inserted a 5/16" snap toggler anchor, and purchased this machine screw to secure the tv mount into place with the toggler anchor. It worked great! Shipping was quick.
