These don’t work. I tried 2 sticks and they require excessive heat to the point of where the base metal was damaged. Get the Hobart brand brazing rods. They actually work.

Tried multiple times on aluminum stock. Watched about 20 YouTube videos and gave it a shot with mapp gas torch without any luck. I gave 3 stars because maybe it works with oxy torches? I had the metal at aluminum at 750-800 degrees and nothing.

Package contains 10 sticks, total weight is 4oz, no specs or marking except raised letters on the sticks saying CHINA and OIXING. I was intrigued if a regular handheld propane torch/tank could achieve enough heat to braze copper with these. I found a 4†stub of 1/2†Type L copper with a brass ferrule from a compression fitting on it, seemed like a perfect candidate. The torch had no problem heating the ferrule, in fact it could get it red hot easily. Heating the copper tubing was much slower, but after a minute it got hot enough for the brazing rod to start to flow. As I said this is a stub of copper held at one end in a vise, so it was pretty well isolated. I think it would be a struggle to heat tube that was located near a large fitting, but you could do small hobby and craft stuff with a propane torch. Then I switched over to a TIG torch, set to 100a max. With this it was easy to heat the copper tube and the brazing rod flowed well.
