While the internal cores are indeed 18 AWG, the excessive black plastic/silicon coating makes the entire wire much thicker than expected. This makes routing and fitting the wire more difficult than it should be, especially in tight spaces. The insulation does seem durable, but the unnecessary bulk is a drawback. If you need a more compact 18 AWG wire, look elsewhere.

My outdoor spot lights did not have enough cord for the solar panel to be out in lots of sunlight. Spooled out 12 feet spliced in the wire I purchased to the solar panel and then into the connectors for the 4 spot lights. Shrink tubed the splices and it works perfect. Wire is good quality and weather proof
