The “1 lb†package was actually 15 oz of wood when measured on a calibrated scale. Doesn’t seem like a big deal, but it comes to ~$1.50 an ounce - not cheap. I contacted the vendor who quickly refunded me for the missing amount. Thank you. Would order again.

I've used charred oak for "aging" spirits but after two days noticed that the jar was full of sediment and not at all the right color. Opened the jar and it smelled like a campfire.Usually, when using oak, the scent is mellow and only mildly smoky. This was harsh and not at all pleasant.Also, although I've had wood particles in the past, these sticks shed a chalky sediment. Hopefully the booze isn't ruined after only 2 days. I filtered it and added some quality dark-toast chips I've used in the past.Stuff smelled like Waco after the raid!
