So apparently the "hook" is meant to go through the eye of a needle, then pull a thread back through it. Problem is, the "hook" is made of such flimsy material that it bends and creases at the slightest bit of resistance (eye not aimed properly, or too small to the hook's liking.) One can take the unit apart and straighten the "hook," but once bent, it will bend again due to its weakening by having been creased. I was not able to thread one needle with it! It's going back.
