I had them for a couple of months and the needles fall below zero to the 6 o’clock position , then the temp reading is off I had to use my digital thermometer to check and there’s almost a 50 degree difference they work fine for a couple of weeks. But 3 of the 4 I have a have failed with the 4th still in the box , I’m sure I’ll get the same results from that one

I was very pleased to have received these classy looking thermometers which come as a pack of two. My barbeque has an in-built thermometer which was working at the end of season two years ago when the barbeque was stored indoors and has not been used again until this week. I was due to roast a 1.9kg chicken and make a couple of loaves in the next few days and these have to be made in two goes, as my standard integral electric oven cannot hold all these at one time. As the weather has been so good, I decided to see if a chicken roaster and two large loaf tins could be accommodated in the barbeque at the same time, and prove wether or not these things would cook sucessfully or not. I cranked up the gas in the barbeque and watched the thermostat needle rise just a little and then stick at a low temperature. I needed a new thermostat. There were two similar ones here on Amazon uk, but only one gave readings in both centigrade and Fahrenheit. It was smaller diameter than the one which only read in Fahrenheit. I measure the space which my old thermostat would leave in the panel of the barbeque and decided I would be better with the larger to better cover the space. I usually bake bread at 200°C which is 400° F so the scale read-out wasnt really a problem. I fitted one of the thermostats, which was simply done, and tightened the wing nut which held it in place. I switched on the barbeque and watched the needle rise very smoothly to over 400°F and no misting up as the temperature rose. The temp dropped by just 50° when I opened it to put in the loaves and chicken, and quickly rose again on closing. After 50 minutes I opened up to two beautifully golden, well risen fluffy loaves of bread and in another 35 mins , to a perfectly cooked, tender and moist chicken so the thermometer functions smoothly and very accurately. The bread confirms this more so than a chicken as the bread would not have risen or baked well if the temperature was too far out. As it was, I tested the internal temp of the loaves after they came out of the barbeque as they should be at least 190°F, and the digital thermometer gave a reading of just above 200°F. I can say that I am very well pleased with these thermometers. They are good value as you get two. They are very clearly marked and colour zoned for different functions and I am very pleased to recommend them to you as they are well made, easy to fit and give accurate readings. Brilliant!

Although I should have realised that it only indicated the temperature in ºF. It would be nice if it included ºF and ºC, it wouldn't cost any more money to make....The package includes two barbecue/smoker/oven temperature gauges (for what two? I guess in case your barbecue is big and you want to measure in more than one position). It is completely made of stainless steel. Apart from the main circular body with the dial, it has a rod which is the probe that is and a threaded part and a nut for mounting, It is easy to install. It seems to indicate the temperature accurately, although I have nothing to compare it to at such high temperatures either.

These are nice clear gauges a little larger than I thought should have read the measurements but that's typical of me, I wanted to replace the gauge fitted to my barbeque as it has a little bit of dampness inside the glass and like the layout of these better, but being smaller the whole is also small and I will need to do a few mods to make one of these fit, so I am going to wait a few weeks because the barby also needs a repaint and I will do it all at the same time, otherwise very nice easy to read gauges.

My barbecue has a central thermostat. Ok if you have all four burners going but if you sistribute your food across the barbecue and use the burners at different temperatures then the central thermostat only gives an average reading.Ok. I know that using the thermostats for differential cooking again will not give fully accurate readings but it is far more exact that the single thermostats and with the use of the internal heat prongs I can make sure all my meat and fish is cooked correctly.I had to drill holes in the cover of my barbecue, bit that's no issue and the thermostats are easily inserted and noted in.
