I took on the project of residing my house on my own. I saw the fancy geko mounts you can get to hold the siding in place as you work your way up the wall however i read there was a problem that pulled the boards away from the wall which caused problems with the reveal. These were like a third of the cost and they function better than i had imagined. They are easy to use, you rest it on the previous board and throw a couple nails in, and then right before you nail past these you will want to make sure you remove the bracket just so you dont damage the panel and make it easier to remove. Removing before finalizing also makes it so you can sink the board closing to the house.

Makes installation 100x easier. Installing 12ft Hardie boards without this is rough even with 2 people, with this you could it by yourself but it wouldn't be fun

I got these when I was putting siding on a shed and they worked well, allowing me to finish the job alone. They are a little difficult on some boards to get them to set in the beginning since there needs to be a small gap at the top of the previous board, but they did their job well - saving me from messing up the spacing. Siding looks like it was supposed to, nice and straight all the way around.

This item would not fit on the top of the Hardie Plank 5/16" thick. The description says only for the 5/16" planks but the area that was supposed to hang on the board was so narrow that it would not fit over the board. It could not be used as a template for the screws/nails since the holes were too high up and close to the edge of the board.

These were just what I needed to use as a gauge my clapboard project. Delivery was quick, the quality was good and the price reasonable.

Purchased these per the recommendation of several professionals on YouTube. We only had a small job to complete opposite the wall of our patio kitchen so it was not necessary to purchase the expensive gauges. My husband and I were able to get this done fairly easily on our own. Would definitely recommend for first time DIY’ers. Just make sure to watch a couple how-to videos and you should be fine.
