This is a great way to improve on Alexa functionality for bedroom lights. I'll explain. We had our bedroom lights on wall outlet plug in switches so Alexa could turn them on and off. This worked OK and allowed them to be controlled as a set or individually. The drawback to that was that if one of us was sleeping and the other was reading, you had to tell Alexa to turn off the last light, which could sometimes wake the sleeping partner. These plugs solve that problem by providing switches for each light that control the light without getting the lights out of sync with Alexa. The switches solve that issue, and also provide dimming, which the old outlet plugs didn't do. Overall, these are a great improvement.

Installation was as simple as it gets... I plugged my lamp into one of the two outlets on the device, plugged the device into the wall outlet, and then asked Alexa to "Discover Devices." After a minute or two, Alexa reported she had found the new device and told me its name. I then asked Alexa to rename the device which she did.Not only can I now turn the lamp on or off just by asking Alexa to do so, I can also control the dimming level by voice. In addition to voice control, the lamp on/off/dimming can also be controlled via buttons on the switch itself, or by using the remote control.Using the remote was just as easy. I simply inserted the included coin cell battery into the remote and started using it - the remote was already paired to the switch. The remote has fantastic responsiveness - there is no lag after pushing a button. A wall mounting plate and screws are included. The remote can still be easily removed from the wall plate if you want to take it with you.Though I got this unit because of the Alexa integration, because the set includes the remote, I guess you could use it even without Alexa if you don't have one (yet) or don't want to use voice control (yet). There was no flicker with 100w incandescent bulb at any of the dimmer settings. There were a few issues that in combination caused me to deduct a star:One time, after a power failure, my Echo Pop could no longer "see" the device. I tried doing discovery again, but no luck.Somehow I figured out that I could do a factory reset by pressing and holding the power button on the outlet for ten seconds. The Echo was then able to discover it.I simulated a power failure again, and the echo still recognized the device after power was restored. So, maybe it was just a one-time fluke. If there is a power failure, after power is restored, the light turns on, regardless of whether it was on or off when the power failed. The polarized outlets on the device have a strange feel when inserting the plug for the lamp and there is the slightest gap between the outside of the case of the device and the plastic plug body. The plug for the device that plugs into the wall outlet is three prong. The grounding prong wobbles just a bit. I am not sure why they even have the grounding prong since the outlets for the lamp are only two-blade polarized.

First the install. If you can install a switch-this would be no different. 3 wires and a couple wire nuts and it is done. The product itself works fine and does what it is supposed to do, HOWEVER, I think there are better items to accomplish the same thing that are more aligned with using your smart phone. You can use Alexa, but again, not as thoughtful in the process. To be clear, it does what it is supposed to do. I just think you can get more for the same or maybe less expensive

I have some floor lamps in my bedroom and having a remote to turn them on and off is super handy. I keep the remote on my night stand and then can adjust the lamps without getting up. These seem very well made and work great. One feature I really like, is that the part that plugs into the wall has buttons on it too, this is handy if you have set your remote far away and need the lamp on. It's a great set, I should have got one of these sooner!

These work flawlessly. Plug them in and plug in the light, and you are ready to go with the remote/removable switch. My 2 nightstand lights are now remote and switchable with dimming. Plus having the dual outlets.
