Even if the closet pole is a little short. these will work. They have a lock down screw on each end.

I use these to hold the rod I purchased from the local hardware store. The installation is a breeze. It fits well with my dark rod, looks great in my closet. With a 1 - 1/4 rod, I am confident it is going to hold all heavy jackets and stuff.

Require grinding out to fit a 1-1/4" dowel. Frustrating.

This is a high quality product with great customer support, however it did not work in my case. I found the size is actual and my existing rods were 1.25 inches nominal and 1 5/16 actual and were a bit too large to fit in these brackets. This is not the fault of the manufacturer or seller, it's something to be aware of when ordering.
