These cleaning swabs are too thin and flimsy to be effective at swabbing the inside of an alto saxophone. They slide in too easily meaning it’s not making hardly any contact with the parts of the saxophone that you are trying to get the moisture off of. Waste of money. I can only assume the people who rated this 5 stars are by people who don’t know much about saxophones and just liked that it was cheap and you got 2. If you got them just because someone said you need a swab and these are a swab so you assumed it does its job….. think about hand washing a dirty glass… You need to actually touch the sides and bottom of the glass in order to clean it fully otherwise you leave stuff behind. The same theory applies here. Since it’s so thin and flimsy it’s not capable of thoroughly do the job a swab is intended to do. Don’t worry.. i made the same mistake… I figured how hard could it be to make a decent swab. Then i got this and realized you can, in fact, make a worthless (or barely useful) sax swab. Find one with fuller thicker fibers. While you should not struggle to swab a sax if it slides in and out of the sax super easy its not going to clean enough to keep the sax clean. I double checked the labels on both and they say they are meant for alto saxophone. So it’s not that they sent me the “wrong†one. It’s that they are selling a subpar item.
