I love that these handles are made of solid wood and in one piece. This kind of handle can take a lot of abuse. The wood grip is also comfortable and the steel support for it is strong. The wood of the long bar hasn't been sanded very well so it's not especially smooth, and there doesn't appear to be more than a very thin application of some kind of clear coat. I don't suppose that the sanding is terribly important on the bar, but a thicker sealant application would increase the useful life of the product. The wood handle grip, though, has been sanded better so it's smoother, and there's a more visible application of the finish clear coat. It doesn't look like you'll get any splinters from it. The black paint on the metal parts is also a little less than. It has a matte finish and seems to attract material from anything else it touches, but all in all the handle and grip are sturdy and strong and likely to take a lot of years of abuse. In my opinion. Worthy of consideration.

Sounds silly, but I had a great shovel that broke and glad that I found this to replace to handle that broke. Would recommend.
