I have a few different brands of these etching tools including an electronic one. This is so much easier and a way better finish product cause it's cleaner lines. Worth ever cent and then some. I will buy these every time. And they are so inexpensive it's a no Brainerd really!

I got these tungsten carbide scribes because I have always wanted one, or rather, it seems like I was always wishing I had one. I have no idea why I waited so long – these a wonderful. They are heavy but easy to hold due to the long knurled grip section. The weight helps with making controlled marks. The knurled grip area is great – just enough grip to write, not so much to be uncomfortable. It also includes a pocket clip to help keep it handy, though it tends to pull my pocket down due to the weight of the scribe. Between TWO scribes and a total of 12 tungsten carbide tips, I think this is a lifetime supply [unless I lose them, or the neighbor borrows them]. I found that an X-Acto knife cover works well if you do lose the rubber tip(s) but want to provide some protection to your other tools while stored in the tool box. The tips are pointy but not too sharp and easily scratch the different metals pieces I’ve tried.The price for this scribe at the time of this review is only $6 – a truly stellar price for one, but even better for two. And even better still with 10 spare tips! This is one of those “I would give it 6 stars if I could†products.

I was trying to use this to mark out cuts for woodworking and they aren't sharp enough, stable enough, or thin enough to be truly useful to me. I gave them to a guy who does a lot of work with construction grade lumber for out door use.

These tungsten carbide scribes have a very fine point. The 3mm (1/8") shaft tapers down to a short 1mm shaft which then tapers to a point. They work well but leave a very fine line that is some times hard to see. Each scribe comes with 10 extra tips which should be a lifetime supply for me.

The scribers work great and are simple and intuitive to use. I find them better then pencils in most cases and the carbide tip is small and hard enough to mark just about anything. I love that there are three sets; one for my tool apron, one for the bench, and one to replace whichever I lose first. Very good value overall.
