I got these in order to replace a couple I had lost moving a bunk bed a while back. They slotted in just how I needed them to, and actually in my opinion worked better than the originals (which just used a flat head screwdriver). However, if you are buying these for replacement of other parts, be careful, I had to go through a couple different options before I found these that worked, because the thread lengths can vary with these types of things.

These are nice solid barrel nuts that are simple to use and install. Just drill out the hole and slide them in but make sure you line up the screw hole. I've used them before so not an issue and this 20 pack will come in handy. I only needed a few for now but will likely find more uses so its nice to have extras. They will likely be a good fit for replacing any existing barrel nuts already drilled out for this size. The standard 1/4 x 20 threads are just what I needed.

I often times will find book shelves, cabinets and other furniture items that people set out at the curb for trash pick-up or, for people like me who like repairing them. I always keep furniture hardware like these barrel nuts on hand to help in repairing these discarded items as well as for other shop projects I may have planned. Even though I didn’t need these right now, I still wanted to test them out and see how they will hold up. I took a ¼-20 bolt and tightened it into the barrel nut. I repeated this on 6 barrel nuts and didn’t experience any problems with them stripping out. The bolts threaded smoothly and there were no problems with the threads. I think these are good quality and will hold up in any projects I will use them in.

I got these for assembling knock-down panels. They are pretty basic, but true to size. Made of steel, good fit, plenty durable, great price. One end has cross grooves for a Phillips or flat blade screwdriver for turning the nut inside the hole to align its through-hole with the1/4"-20 bolt. Well made and I would buy these again.

The description said that these were zinc plated steel. They're not magnetic, so they're definitely not steel. I'm guessing they're die-cast zinc.I wouldn't build a skyscraper with these, but they're probably strong enough for furniture projects. I'm disappointed that they aren't steel like the description led me to expect.

1/4-20 is pretty standard hardware- I prefer it for my projects as there are knobs and other things that are already threaded for it. So these are useful in that you'll never have an issue finding 1/4-20 bolts in any form you can imagine. I am using these for personal projects but they would probably also replace any similar items in flat pack type furniture- just check your bolts to make sure they fit.
