Unlike some other plastic sashiko templates I purchased, these are thin enough to accept any marker, pencil, or chalk I've tried with them. They are also flexible, so I could carefully to bend them around the curved surface I was mending. Some users may find them too thin - I am being careful with them, particularly around the connection points that hold the designs together. I think I'll get a lot of use out of them.
