It works. It was difficult to figure out how to replace the unit that didn’t work because it’s pretty much impossible to find any instructions on the internet and Whirlpool doesn’t provide them in the owner’s manual. Yes, all you have to do is detach the failed light via a cord connector, but the difficult part is trying to figure out how to actually get at the refrigerator light to replace it in the first place. Two screws and endless mini plastic clips (that are very easy to break) later, you might be able to figure it out. The replacement I received and installed now make an odd electronic alert tone for four seconds every time the door is opened (yes, it is coming from the new light). Whatever happened to the $2 replacement bulbs that took under a minute to replace? Ridiculous.
