Great mats for sitting on the floor! I ordered these for my girlfriend who sits on the floor when she does makeup. The thickness is enough to feel cushion-y, but not so thick that you feel like you're sinking into the mat. The edge pieces are confusing to connect, I had to cut off parts of the knobs to make them fit into some sockets. I could just be a dummy and not used the correct pieces, too . . . There is a slight chemical odor that is typical of virtually all other mats, but it is not overwhelming. Slides a little bit on carpet, so have to adjust every now and then, but for most uses shouldn't be an issue. Overall, these are good mats for light daily use.

I am setting up a home gym in a part of my basement so I wanted to order these mats to designate the area. You get 24 in the set. I've had something like this before but the one thing these do not do is attach to each other. I have ones that tab together and I think I prefer those but these are a good size and the fact that they don't hook together makes it easy to move them around. These are also great for assembling puzzles on and the fact that they are foam makes them easy to carry. There was no major odor to these despite that they are rubber and they have grid lines on the tops. Overall good set of floor mat squares!

Impressions:-Note, there are several variations in the listing. I’m reviewing the set of 24 pads in the 12 x 12 inch size in the dark ebony tone.-This is a good value for a good quality, thick, well padded, larger sized customizable floor and exercise mat.-The pieces fit together easily and securely like a puzzle piece and the edges are well finished.-However, it does have a low-moderate odor to it that improves upon airing it out.-You may have to cut some pieces on the corner to make it fit as I’ll describe below.Pros:-Good value for the style, size and quality.-Good quality in the construction, finish and material, a good thickness and padding.-24 pieces (in this variation)-The 24 piece set (in this variation) can cover 24 square feet of floor space.-Each piece is 12 x 12 inches square (in this variation)-Thickness of ½”.-Each pad is square shaped.-Made of high density EVA foam.-Non slip on the floor and not slippery when barefoot or in socks. (However do be careful as it may vary by your floor surface, activity and mat configuration.)-Easy to put together and customize the layout and fit. The pieces go together like a puzzle piece.-You can use each piece separately as it has finished corner pieces, or all the pieces together.-Finished corner pieces for each piece that can be removed to make a larger area or mat. No corners will be open, unfinished or have the puzzle look when you install the corner pieces.-Slightly textured surface as shown in the pictures. Yet it doesn’t feel rough or uncomfortable when barefoot or in socks.-Does provide a moderate amount of cushioning under the foot. You can immediately feel it. It’s not too soft or too hard but just the right amount of softness and cushioning.-Stays together well if you put it together properly.-Rated to be sound and shock absorbent.-You can wipe it clean with water and wipe it dry, it’s easy to clean.-The dark ebony tone was a true dark ebony tone as shown in the pictures.Cons:-Has a low-moderate (not quite low but not quite moderate, but in between) odor to the mats. It does get better upon airing them out and it’s not that unpleasant, but it is noticeable. If you are sensitive to scents it may be an issue.-You may have to trim some corner pieces to make them fit if making a lager mat.-No instructions included.Tips:-If it looks like they are bigger than you think they are when you get them it’s because they come semi- pre-assembled. Meaning they are stacked but two are already put together with the edges on them when you get them, so you’re seeing two of them put together vs them being larger than you expected.-They have corner and side pieces and you’ll have to look closely to see them as they are pre-installed.-Be careful when taking them apart and be gentle as you don’t want to over bend the attachment areas.-Think of it like taking a puzzle apart or putting it together in how you handle it and take it apart or put it together, if you can do a puzzle you can do this easily.-You may have to trim some corner pieces when making larger areas of floor coverage. I did find that I needed to this but it was easy to do with standard scissors. Just be careful and go slow and it should be fine.-Since no instructions are included you may want to print, save or refer to the listing details and pictures for some use tips and instructions.-You can get more than one kit and make a larger area if you need to.Thoughts:-I did find that it had a good feel under my feet when barefoot or in socks doing standing exercise or barre work. It is more padded than a yoga mat and is a lot thicker and more padded than a standard yoga mat.-However it’s not as thick as a traditional folding thick gym mat which is thicker and has more padding.-You can use these to create an exercise mat or under exercise equipment for padding.-They would also work well for a softer floor area where you need to stand a lot or have more softness or cushioning.-You can use each mat piece by itself with it’s corner pieces to give it a smooth finish and edges. Or you can combine them together and add the corner pieces around the edges.

These do not have a bad plastic/chemical smell, which I appreciate.These are 3/8" thick and the edges come off so you can put them together in different configurations.They are 12 and 3/8 wide with the edges on. They cover a large area since there are 24 of them.I got these for the floor of the playroom as an extra layer of cushion / protection and they are great for that use, especially since we can adjust the size to fit different stations/play areas around the room.They would also be good for an exercise room as well, great added cushion under a yoga mat or for weights, though you would need something grippy underneath to keep them from moving around.
