The 242044020 Refrigerator Defrost Heater heats the refrigerator’s cooling element to prevent it from freezing. It works with the defrost timer to heat the element at regular intervals. A worn or broken defrost element may cause the refrigerator’s cooling element to freeze. You might need to replace the defrost heater.

Every time we get a power surge and outage, the defrost element goes out. But I have never tried this brand. The original and 1 cheaper replacement have gone out. But this is a pretty simple fix after watching it on YouTube.

The defrost heater, after fit with an adapter, fit in my Hipoint refrigerator nicely. This item costs only $25 instead of $100 or more of the OEM parts. I am happy with the purchase.

No complaints but check the part number you need. My Frigidaire listed a different part number in the manual but the Frigidaire website lists this part number when you try to buy a replacement.
