I wanted to put it under the cage, but it says you shouldn't rest something on the pad or the cord, so haven't figured out how to use it yet.

I got this to warm a bed area for some kittens my cat had. Works great for this purpose. I wrapped the power cord in a mesh protector to keep them from chewing the cord. I have this plugged into a smart plug so I can schedule when its is needed at night. Anything that is used for animals should be plugged into a protected power strip with a fuse to protect against shorts. So far no issues and I didn't use the mounting tape it came with.
