I was wary about the quality of this, purchasing off Amazon without getting to see it person, but I ordered it for my wife and it turned out fantastic. Very nicely crafted, very pretty, and very sturdy. Took minutes to assemble and stands nice and straight. Very happy with it.

I absolutely love this product. This is my first chess table and I got to say the Quailty is worth every penny. To assemble it was simple as long as you have a drill or have muscles like The Rock the screws are pretty sturdy but they really didn’t mark where exactly the screws needs to go and there are really no pre screwed holes to show you where to put the screws at. Overall it a really really nice table and I recommend anyone who has a apartment with Limited space or a person with a mansion that would like to just have a chess table of there own.

Overall decent product, and is difficult to find a better value for the money. Appearance is great and is relatively easy to assemble. The only thing lacking is the quality/durability of the finish, which easily chips. Hard to argue at the price point.Appearance (5.0/5.0): Excellent looking chess table, has the appearance of an expensive piece of furniture. The squares being 2"x2" are slightly smaller than a standard tournament set (2.25"-2.5"), so the best size chess pieces are ones with a 3.25" king (which corresponds to a 1.5"-1.6" wide base.Quality (3.5/5.0): The cherry finish easily chips off, revealing a light-colored wood below. It is very easy to chip the finish off. Mine arrived with several chips off of the pedestal and the corners of the playing surface. Will be easy enough to cover with a wood furniture pen to cover the chips.Ease of assembly (4.0/5.0): The table comes in four major parts, the top playing surface, a square mounting block, the table leg/shaft, and a pedestal. The pedestal mounts to the shaft with 4 threaded bolts with pre-drilled holes, very simple. The table leg connects to the pre-drilled square mounting block with 4 wood screws, as does the mounting block to the top surface itself. Unfortunately there is not a template or any markings on the underside of the table or on the top of the table leg, so you will need to measure and re-measure to make sure you are centered. Not a big deal but with a round pedestal connecting to a square block, it would make assembly even easier.

The top is darker than it looks in the pictures... the white squares are more like yellow. It doesn't look classy or old fashioned, it looks stained, like that yellowing you see on the walls in the house of someone who has smoked cigarettes for decades.Chips in the finish on the pedestal and even one on the top.Missing some hardware.No instructions. Fortunately it's obvious enough. But maybe if they had taken the time to write some, they would have noticed that...The predrilled holes were in the wrong places... the table is offset from the base by 45 degrees.Buy something else.

We bought this beautiful chess table even with some doubts. When beginning to assemble the table we were pleased with its status and quailty, BUT the pedestal and the attaching pieces had no holes drilled or even marked. We almost returned it, but the build of the item was most noticceable. DECIDED to make it a home project. Got the tape measure and pencil, my drill and wood glue and the wife and I set about a DYI project. All of the parts were sent along and the base plates were indeed predrilled and threaded. The rest of assembly was the project. Less than a couple hours later we had our wonderful, sturdy and beautiful Chess Table. NOW WE FEEL an ownership in this table that couldn't have come just out of the box. Would buy again and definitely recommend this product. DO FEEL AMAZON OWES ME FOR A COUPLE HOURS OF PAY FOR THE WORK PUT IN!!! Think they will?!?!?!?

I'm a big fan of this table. It was easy to assemble ( believe me coming from this guy that's quite the statement! ) and it fits perfectly into the space I set aside for chess. The drawers on either side are a handy spot to store your pieces and the board itself can accommodate a regulation full sized chess set.
