As a few reviewers described, these multi-colored stones are fun to look at because there are several different minerals. As the website describes, if you want to use them in an aquarium, or in my case, for humidity trays for houseplants, you need to wash them in hot, soapy water to get some weird waxy stuff off. I had to wash them three times to get them free of the wax. Like all stones, they are more colorful and pretty when wet so maybe that's what the wax was for. My only complaint is that I way under-estimated how much I would need to provide a tray for all my plants.

Took a couple of rinse with just water but not a big deal. They are pretty, I just didn't expect to see a lot of greens and reds. Good buy!

A great way to may my plants clean and pretty. I love that size, it’s just right for my pots, i have 4.5 up to 8†pots. I have used into 5 pots and I still have remaining for my next flower pots.Love it!
