Latch is stainless steel and very nice. Spring is plenty strong enough to keep the hook closed to prevent roll out. I am going to order 3 more to have as spares. Nylock nut works great and will not unscrew.

It works....but the spring (the part that failed on the original) looks pretty sketchy. It's chrome plated and feels more like simple wire than actual spring steel. It deformed a bit in the effort to get it reinstalled on the hook. Real spring steel wouldn't have done that....just snapped back into shape I believe.Some instructions or at least hints would have been nice. I put a small punch on one side, the screw on the other to hold the spring in place. Then inserted the screw.....managing to push the punch out as it went through. But it took a few minutes of pondering to get to that point. Overall....better than having to cut off the whole hook and replace it.

This worked great on the hook I had to replace. It fit right in and super easy to install.
