This pretty mat is rubber backed with a thin layer of decorative fabric. It seems to be quite durable (didn't snag) with all the different silverware, bowls, utensils, etc., when used for additional drying surface for Thanksgiving. I wish there were more sizes available as this one fell a little short. I loved the pattern so much I bought it even though I didn't need the additional strip. I might just treat myself to the kitchen rugs as well.

We've been using towels to lay down on our counters when cleaning dishes, but I honestly can't stand the look. Not sure why I hadn't bought something like this sooner. I did have to cut the mat that goes across the sink due to how ours is built, but that wasn't a big deal at all. It's so much easier to wipe down and looks a lot more pleasing than having towels down.

Fit any space for dish drying. The back splash doesn't fit my faucet arrangement so I cut out the half circle to make 2 rectangulas pieces to fit the strip behind the faucet.
