I purchased this latch to replace the original latch that came with my Weber Smokey Mountain smoker. The original latch eventually failed and was a poor design given the exposure to heat and frequency of use during access to the smoker-coals area and water container. I will say that this latch is a far superior design and I expect it to last a very long time.I had previously purchased a stainless steel door upgrade a couple of years ago. This latch design works better and fits perfectly after the mounting hole is enlarged to 0.6 inches (the original hole was 0.587 inches). This is not hard to do but if you have a stainless steel door, be prepared that it will take a bit of time to drill through it. I notice now that this item is out of stock but keep checking back if that is the case, Amazon may be getting more. Although there are 2 latches sold with this item I can only use one. But I have spare parts now or could help out another WSM brother. The price per latch is 1/3 the cost of other 3rd party WSM aftermarket parts sellers (at my time of purchase).Note: the photo of the installed latch shows my smoker center section inverted which is how I store it (reduces condensate from seeping in).A worthy 5 stars in my opinion.

I have the aftermarket Cajun Bandit doors on my pair of 22" WSMs, but they use the plastic OEM latches. Well, one eventually failed, and I have a big cook coming up on Christmas day, so this 2-pack of compression latches are perfect replacements. I just had to bore out the hole in the door a bit, but a 1/2" bit made quick work of that. The bolt is a bit long, and will interfere with the removal of the lower rack and water pan, but I will take a cut off disk and lop the extra off.

Good product, easy to install. Not the best quality but work well. Installed on a crawl space entry door.

Bought this on a whim to fix the terrible handle from a Webber Smokey Mountain door and son of a bitch it worked great. Had to use a drill but to open up the door hole a c-hair to get it to fit, but the end result is perfect.

Once I adjusted it for the access panel, worked better than the original crappy handle that came with it.

If your material is too thick you can strip the threads. This will happen with any brand tho.
