I bought a spreader-bar hammock for my back yard, but the place where I fixed it gets quite a bit of wind. Since the spreader-bars keep the fabric stretched out the hammock mostly behaves like a large sail, and I always found it twisted around itself and a big mess.I inserted the swivel rings between the hammock straps and the hammock and now when the wind flips the hammock the swivel rings simply turn and the hammock ends stay straight. So far the metal has stood up well to being outside for several months and supporting the weight of people using the hammock. The rings keep turning freely as well (I put a dab of WD40 on each when I installed them).

I bought this item for a new dog leash II am designing. For that application, these may be an over-kill; however, know that these items are well made and very sturdy. While my application will fall very short from the load ratings, I have no reason that the load specifications are well within a 10% window. My concern is, if left outside for some time, will the units start to show rust or corrosion? Only time will tell. Other than this small concern, these items are a very good buy.

I have a great big kangal/great Pyrenees livestock guardian dog and I have to use a chain to hold him to a tree until he gets mature enough not to chase the sheep and goats which he's supposed to protect. He's close to 100 lb and he tore up a different swivel that I had before. Because he moves all around and circles the tree and causes the chain to twist and the shortened so that he cannot reach his food or water, I require a swivel to keep the chain unkinked. This does a great job and it handles this big dog just fine. The screw on sleeve that keeps the carabiners locked have also worked just fine. I've had other carabiners that will accidentally get snapped around other parts of the chain and cause the dog to get locked up close to the tree when he wraps around the chain. With the threaded sleeve on these carabiners they cannot be squeezed and opened inadvertently. And I haven't had trouble with them unscrewing, but if I do I can get some loctite.

Clips have sharp edges at opening. Watch ropes and fingers. Once closed and locked do a good job. I bought these for the rotating clip which are holding up very well.

They don't seem to have an bearings and will not spin under 50lb load.
