Nautical solid brass round sundial compass. The top of the sundial is hinged and a curved scale is used to set your local latitude angle. The magnetic compass allows the sundial to be oriented North. Unique gift, presents well, the box elevates the quality of the overall gift. Plus, the sundial is nice and shiny! Opening a wood box and seeing the shine made quite the impression. (the sundial arrived covered in paper and then shrink wrapped, prepping it in person is a nice touch)Anyone who sails would love this gift, those interested in science would like it as well. Overall I am happy with this purchase.

Everything with order went accordingly. No damage to the box or the sundial, excellent craftmanship. When using it works as one would expect and the whole thing was satisfyingly cheap for both the sundial and the box it comes with. Only complaint is that the metal which holds up the gnomon when being used seems a bit fragile. Other than that, 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought this as a gift for someone, they finally gave it back to me because it didn’t work. I had one when I was younger and they’re right it doesn’t work. It’s poorly calibrated and apparently poorly made. It comes with no instructions. I looked on the Internet for instructions and see complaints everywhere about them not working and lack of instructions. I would suggest a higher quality standard for inspection prior to shipping and add instructions for people who have never used one.

I was very disappointed by this product. Although the wooden box and the sundial looks nice, it is not functional, in other words, because the compass inside of it doesn't work at all you have to guess at the direction in which to hold it in order for the sundial to work at all - so it's just pretty not functional - this information should be available to those of us considering a purchase. Janice

I dont know how accurate it was as I gave it as a Christmas gift. Craftsmanship was great, it was beautiful! Recipient absolutely loved it! He was impressed and very happy with it.
