It is thick and substantial. I bought other ones this year that were flimsy trash.

Much better than the products than are “like plastic “. Easy to cut to size. Keeps growths of roots etc out. Wish I would have started using them years ago.

So I did put this tree mulch ring down but inhave several issues with them.First it feels like a felt fabric that I use for my indoor planters ro absorb water and protect the shelf surface if I spilled water... so I was concerned about how water is supposed to penetrate this fabric to reach the soil/roots.These covers fit my young trees right now, I like the fact that it is black and i used these for my apple, Pear, and plum trees to prevent weeds from growing around them.During installation, I had tonwork around my soaker hose at the base of the tree. I had it above the fabric initially, but the penetrabilty concern forced me to move the hose under the cover. Also, the fabricnis very lightweight, there were no pins or an securing mechanism to hold it down. I am using the original mulch i had under the tree to hold it down for now... it feels redundant but I don't want it to take flight either...I just had a rainstorm blow over and i went to check on the covers. They stayed in place for now, but i dont think the water peneyrated through. The mulch and the soil under the mulch around the trees bases were wet.. presumable the water flowed towards the inner tree base and the outer tree drip lines...? In my opinion. I don't think the water is getting through closest to the base so that is my main concern. In the mean time, I'm going to keep an eye on these covers as I water with the soaker hose. The only positives I can think of is when I water under the cover, it may help with retaining the water and slowing down the evaporation process. My area gets really hot and humid. So, I really hope these won't cause any other pests, fungus, or root rot issues so I'm going watch dor any changes and check under the cover periodically.

It's very thin and cheap, the picture makes it appear thick and what I was looking for. It was not, save your money. You'll need mulch on top so it doesn't blow away. I feel ripped off
