7 anchors in a row split at the tip and pulled up right away. Our soil is mostly clay, about average in density. The tips of the anchors are simply constructed with metal that is too weak. All but one of the the partially driven anchors pulled up easily. Some reviewers suggested dulling the rod, but this made no difference for me. Also, since the angle is on one side of the anchor and rod, the rod consistently pulls horizontally as it's driven, resulting in a hole around the anchor cable larger than necessary, weakening it. The idea behind these anchors is good, but it needs some more design work.

As mentioned by other reviews, these do have a tendency to break if you have rocky soil, it is good if you dull the end of the driver before hammering anchors too hard. That being said, I have really rocky soil and was still able to get them in 50ish% of the time.To get them in I just had to tap them in nice and gentle. If it felt like it was hitting a rock and not moving, I took it out and moved the location a bit and tried again. it took longer, sure, but it worked and you can't beat the price of these. One review mentions that they weren't staying in once they were to depth, to get past that issue I quickly pulled it, like setting a hook on a fish. Put the pound rod through the eye and yank it with that. They did still sometimes come out, but again, for the price I found that manageable. For soft soil, these will work great.

The drive punches the ends out no matter what I do. I have dulled the end of the drive bar, but the ends are such thin metal that they snap no matter what I do. Also, they don't grab even over 2 feet into the ground. I am able to pull them out without even bracing. It took 5 attempts in the same spot to get 2 feet down. I assume they are only good in softer soils, for both driving them in and seating them securely.

My soil is almost purely clay, but when it is dry the anchors split despite me grinding down the driving rod. I also experienced that the anchors coming out when pulled right after insertion and discovered why. The cable loop at the anchor end is too large, it can flip over to the other side (the flat side) of the anchor and then the attachment point is off-center in the wrong way, instead of turning the anchor perpendicular, it aligns the anchor. Difficult to explain, but look at the pictures and imaging anchor flip around the anchor point 180 degrees. The manufacturer may want to make those loops smaller and also use stronger material. Otherwise they do work if you are careful.

Great value. The riving rod needs to be dulled at the chisel-point, or it will break the anchors. One that was done, they worked perfectly.
