I understand that these are cheaply made but it works perfectly and is well worth the money, which is minimal. I researched this product and found similar ones for much higher prices. It's a bit hard to open but easy to put the drive in and it reads it perfectly. I use it daily.

I bought this to convert an older Apple 3TB Fusion HDD to external storage for my newer MacBook Pro. After inserting the HDD into the enclosure and hooking it to the laptop, I turned on the power, and after a few seconds the drive appeared in Disk Utility. After formatting, it was ready to go. The enclosure is surprisingly quiet, and is a great way to recycle hardware that would otherwise be discarded; and, save money too!!!

Works great, and has a nice formfactor that fits on my desk without looking horribly out of place. Looses a star only for using the old style large square USB plug - and less so the power button being at the back (since I have my controller stand sitting atop the unit...)

I realized I had an old spare HD that I didn't have easy access to its contents. This enclosure fit the bill. The construction seems well made and the drive inside won't be easily jostled about if you affix the padding in the appropriate areas. It was literally plug and play for the drive and then to use on my PC and my Macbook. I don't need it for anything super important, just basic backup, so speed is not a huge factor for me.

I needed to retrieve data from an old desktop drive. Worked great. Plug and play and easy to install hard drive removed from PC.

Worst, junk, drive enclosure on Amazon. Made of plastic so it won't serve as a heat sink. There is no way to secure the drive in the case, so the drive flops around in side. There is no way to secure the case closed, but it is hard to open so I suspect it will stay closed on its own.I also suspected that I would not like the type of USB cable that it connects with and I was right. I prefer a USB-C connection so I can use a short cord.Overall this is a very low-quality product. Almost anything else on Amazon will be better. Sending this one back.
