Threads are in good condition. This piece came with a plastic cap over the flare-fitting threads to protect them in shipping. The only other protection is a small plastic bag. Good quality for the price. If I were the seller, I would say in the description that the threads come protected for shipping. Many gas fittings on Amazon are not shipped this way. Scratched or banged-up threads can cause leaky connections. So it's important that they are protected like this in shipping.

If you are connecting a gas stove, the 1/2 inch end must be an NPT not a flared 1/2 inch which slightly smaller or you will start a fire from the propane leak of a flared connector. The gas line 3/8 end is what has to be flared.
