I've had a chance to use this chiller three or four times since I received it. I've not put it on the clock but it seems to cool wort just as quickly as my counter flow chiller does but with a lot less hassle. My main reasoning for getting this chiller was because I got so tired of cleaning the counter flow chiller and also wanted the ability to just partially chill my wort in the kettle for doing kettle sours and the like. Getting out the counter flow and recirculating just to bring wort down to 120 from a boil was a hassle. I don't think I'll use the counter flow much anymore. And, because it's stainless, this immersion chiller looks way cooler :)

I ordered this back in July 2017 and have used it about 30 to 40 times since then. The product works exactly how it should however there is one main flaw, The more you use it, the more it will warp out of shape. The constant temperature changes make the stainless steel work and the coils are no longer presented in a mean fashion but instead have warped over. It’s to the point that it’s too hard to use anymore.

Hard to believe this review isn’t even talking about the actual quality of the product... Stainless or Copper? Good fittings? Nope can’t discuss that... This could have been or should have been a 5 * review. The problem I have is with the packaging. I received a way oversized box with my wort chiller. The box was twice as big as the chiller. The only thing in the oversized box was the chiller without ANY packing material. NO newspaper, peanuts, or air cells. The chiller flipped and flopped in shipping and the coils expanded and twisted over each other. Opening the box, the coils were like an over stretched kid’s slinky... The enclosed instructions were great on care and cleaning. The funniest part was that they acknowledged their packaging must suck: “Although this product was built and packaged with care, some deformation of the coil may occur in shipping. If this happens, the shape of the chiller tubing can be restored (a little persuasion may be required). Use caution when adjusting the coils to avoid kinking the tubingâ€... Maybe proper “CARE†in packing would prevent the need for adjustments. I was able to sort of restore the shape of the coils with minimal “persuasionâ€. Hopefully the required adjustments didn’t create a leak... will update after my first brew if I need to do a return.

Good price, great shipping, and received as ordered. Chills a 5-gallon boil to pitching temp in about 5 minutes.Unfortunately, the coils on the one I received were a bit under-wound, causing a lot of tension on the pipe clamps on the vertical section. This was discovered on my first use when I added the chiller to the wort the last 15 minutes of the boil and the pipe clamps shot off 10 minutes later like bullets (one pinging off the pot right in the wort, scaring the bejeezus out of me in the process). Then the thing relaxed into a position that had the verticals on opposite sides of the coils. Some gentle torquing and $2 in pipe clamps (4 installed now) got it back into fighting shape. If you get one (and I still recommend you do), I suggest you throw a couple extra clamps on just in case.

I have been using this chiller for over a year now and have had no issues whatsoever. I love the stainless steel as I am always concerned with harboring bacteria in oxidized copper chillers. Not to mention the aesthetically pleasing nature of stainless steel. I highly recommend this stainless wort chiller. As another homebrewer posted previously, it is important with any chiller of this type, whether it is copper or stainless steel, to make sure to be cautious when dipping it into your boiling wort. Any residual water left in the chiller will quickly increase in temperature and expand exiting both of the connections rapidly. Just remember this is not something specific to this chiller as it happens with all wort chillers. Also NY Brew Supply is an excellent company to do business with. I accidentally orders this chiller simultaneously through their eBay store along with my order through Amazon. I sent them a message regarding my error and they cancelled my order with eBay without issue. Thanks again NY Brew Supply!

One, it's stainless steel and not copper. Copper with heat, water and oxygen will oxidize overtime and turn green. Why not go stainless steel? Two, I just used it on a 5 gallon brew and the fittings worked perfect and cooled my wort to room temperature in 15 minutes. Now I just need a kettle with a valve so I can leave it on the stove the whole time.

Definitely cools down 10-15 gal of wort no problem hooked up to garden hose pressure from city water tap and recirculating the wort via pump. If you just let it sit there and do not recirculate, it'll take longer to cool down your wort (tested both ways). i was concerned about it not being bale to handle larger volumes, it does though. seller assured me of that and he was right. i ended up moving some of the s.s. clamps and spaced out the coils a bit, maybe the re-circulation and the spacing is what did it for me? If doing 5 gal volumes, it'll cool it down no problem just out of the box.
