I will start this by saying I purchased this for watchmaking use as I needed a good way to polish small parts, but the most important part is keeping them dead flat and standard sandpaper won’t work as it won’t lay perfectly flat, however this stuff is extremely thin! Which is absolutely perfect for keeping things flat. The grits are extremely fine and very high quality with no stray chunks of larger grit to ruin my finish which I suffered with using other products. The finest grit is so fine you can get a perfectly polished mirror finish, but you absolutely must use each grit progressively getting smaller and smaller to do this properly. The only issue is that it being aluminum oxide it won’t polish extremely hard metals as well as say diamond but for the cost and quality of this lapping film It is truly worth every penny. I highly recommend you always wet polish/sand with this as it being such a fine grit it will become compromised very quickly and you need a lubricant to wash away the material. If your looking for a polishing paper to get you the absolute best finish without having to use diamond paste and a strip then this is what you need. I will be buying more of this soon as I can

Totally worth the cost, I got these to restore a carbon s.s. chefs knife and I am still blown away how good this works

If I’d known these were so good at polishing straight razors, I would have bought long ago!

I was very disappointed to find that the film I purchased arrived with a number of wrinkles and creases where the film had been folded. Since the purpose of lapping film is to have an extremely flat, smooth surface for grinding and polishing, these creases made a large portion of the film largely unusable. This might be acceptable if you are using it for something like knife and tool sharpening, but its a big problem if you are trying to precisely polish a very flat surface. I would suggest the seller package this item differently in the future, perhaps sandwiched between two cardboard sheets to prevent folding and bending that leads to these creases.
