I installed six of these (with 1" split rings) on the sides of my fishing tackle box to secure small tools (line snips, knot tiers, car keys, etc) while freshwater fishing (shore & boat). Not a clean, dry, environment. Anyway, it has been exactly one year since and they are holding up very well. The 3M adhesive tape is quite strong. Just make sure to clean the area well (alcohol pad) and allow to dry before applying. These d-rings are fairly soft plastic, so I have not tried to use them with heavier items. The description says 2lbs and safely under that is probably a pretty good weight limit.

Of all possible applications, I used this and some polycord to tether our television remote to the nightstand.Now it is always quickly recovered and available at hand, no matter which pillow or blanket it has most recently found itself entrenched beneath.

I don’t lose Yeti mug tops thanks to these. A bit of paracord, two little clips and these tool retainers and I have a sturdy, dishwasher safe lid keeper.

I have not been able to get one of these to stay stuck to anything for more than an hour.I've used a wide variety of 3M and DBI-SALA anchors and tethers prior to this, I followed the directions, and still could not get these to work.I asked Amazon to refund or replace these two weeks after I ordered them, and got no help there, either.
