Bought this to prevent the chips and scratches that always occur when the car's door opens and hits something. I am very careful but the passengers I carry often are not. So, I installed these yesterday and so far they are holding fine. Time will tell. Looks good and you can barely notice. Was easy to install, just take your time and go slowly.

We bought a Ashen Grey colored car and within a month I was noticing door dings and especially on the door handle itself. After doing some touch up work with paint pens I put on this door edge film in about 20 minutes. I washed the dirt off with some simple green and then hit the edges again with window cleaner and a non-lint paper towel (blue shop) to get it as clean as I could. They don't lie when they say if you touch the tape it will show finger prints! Ended up bending the backing a bit to get the tip of the tape to pop up and then stuck it to the door by sliding my finger down as I pulled the backing off and kept tension on the strip. This helped to keep air bubbles our and bend the clear tape around the contour of the door edge. Using simple household scissors I trimmed the bottom and then folded the other half of the tape around the edge of the door to the back by rolling my thumb in that direction. This gave me a very smooth installation with no bubbles and it is fixed firmly. After the first one, it goes much faster, but make sure you don't have any dirt or lint on the tape or it will stand out. I used my extra tape to do the door handles and now they won't get dinged either.I am not going to lie that you can see the tape on your car, but it only shows up when your about 3 ft from the car and is invisible at a distance. It is pretty tough plastic and should hold up well to abuse, weather, and temperature changes, but I don't have a season of use on it yet. So far it seems to be worth the money and a quality product.

I bought thus product for my Santa Fe Sport in 2020. It was flexible and goes on easily. Five years later, it is still holding up well without any cuts, dings or bruises. And it is still looking great on the doors.

I purchased 2 sets of these 36" Door Edge Protection Films for a new small car (Ford CMAX), mostly to protect against minor scrapes of my car and other cars when opening doors in parking lots and my garage. The material is fairly narrow (0.5") and thin (0.008" including adhesive), but it does give a fair amount of protection against minor scrapes -- as many have pointed out, it wouldn't prevent dents from higher velocity impacts. The material is fairly easy to apply, if the directions are followed carefully. It took me about 8-10 minutes per door, not including cleaning time. A more adept person could do it more quickly. It is quite elastic and can be stretched to follow fairly sharp curves in the door edge profile without wrinkling. It can be pulled up and repositioned during application if misaligned. It was not hard to avoid bubbles on the outer (visible) portions, but I could not quite manage to eliminate all bubbles on the folded-over inside edges -- not a problem, however. The film is almost invisible after application, except of course for the tape's edge (a .008" step) which is slightly visible. The product comes in two lengths: 36" (PN 08582) "for most sedans," and 42" (PN 08583) "for most trucks and SUVs." I got the more readily available 36" length, which turned out to be more than enough for the front doors, but about 4" short for the rear doors -- thanks to the cutouts for the rear wheel wells. I should have measured the door edge lengths before ordering, rather than assuming a small car would not need the "truck" size. It makes me wonder if 42" would really be enough for a large SUV, especially for rear doors. The only reason I knocked off half a star (rounded to 1 star) is that the two self-adhesive film strips in a package come mounted side by side on a common paper backing strip, only about 3mm apart. That makes installation more awkward than it needs to be. I found it more convenient to (very carefully) cut the two strips apart with a scissors so they could be dealt with separately. That said, it is certainly possible to peel them off the common backing strip one by one.I would definitely use this material again, and would recommend it for its intended purpose -- its quality stuff.

10/10 Application went perfectly, can’t beat the 3M protection, thickness, and peace of mind. Very happy with how it turned out. First time and I was able to do it with seamless application and no bubbles.

Its size is enough for 2 front doors and a little bit of rear doors. My cars are Honda Civic 2006-2011 and Toyota Camry. Therefore, you should buy 2 if you want to cover full rear doors. The quality is great with strong adhesive and not yellowing over time.

Really easy to apply and very low profile on the car.. almost invisible. They do what they need to. They're the same thing the dealer tries to sell you, but there's is 4x the price. Buy them here and install yourself.

For the best results you need to use a heat gun or hair dryer to apply properly. Otherwise it gets kinks and air bubbles,

The answer to bulky and ugly door edge protection. Very thin protective strips that almost disappear when fitted. Easy to fit and appear to be the same tough material that mobile phone screen protectors use. So far no problems. You'll need two packs for a 4-door car.

On the thin side as I would have preferred a 8 mil instead of a 6 mil 3M offered here but nice laser cut edges unlike some other sellers around... Enough said! After the first door, installation is a cinch as long as you prep it right and take your time! Don't forget to releive tensions at sharp angles by doing some small appropriate "V" wegde cuts on the back side. Instructions included are clear and properly written otherwise (no Google translate here ;-p ).
