Made from terracotta clay
Because the clay stake is porous when you put the bottle full of water in the stake, it takes a little while for the water to soak through the porous clay. If the dirt around the stake is dry, the water automatically wicks from the clay into the dirt, and the water keeps wicking out into the dirt until the dirt is saturated with water, or until the bottle is empty.
The releasing time will depend on your soil and the temperature. It is designed to prevent overwatering. The water is released over time when you are away. Test the use of the watering stakes before going on vacation.

Terracotta Spikes
The package includes 8 watering stakes and our two way moisture and pH sensor. You can use any long neck bootle such as a wine bottle or plastic bottle with the stakes. The watering spikes are perfect tool for you to recycle the used bottle.
Firstly, soak the terracotta spike in water, then dig a hole in the soil. Insert the watering stakes into the soil gently. Fill the bottle or wine bottle with water, connect the bottle with stakes and turn upside down. Make sure the weight of the bottle will not topple your plant.

I've purchased several of these before and they arrive intact and unbroken.Most of my plants have a watering globe. They are both pretty and functional, i.e.they release water into the soil when the soil needs it and you can't over water your plants. They can't be your plants only source of water because it likely wouldn't be enough water depending on the size of the plant, but they keep the soil moist enough for most plants until the next watering day comes around. They're also great for your plants if you have to be away for a week or so.UPDATE- I almost forgot, the moisture reader is a really helpful tool to measure soil moisture, highly recommend them to prevent over or under watering if you're not comfortable watering by feeling the top 2 inches of soil.

We recently traveled out of state for 10 days and the Watering Bulbs kept my plants hydrated until my daughter could get to the house to add more water. I highly recommend them. Not to mention, they are pretty!

The globe ends that go into soil break easily and gets clogged with dirt. Not a fan of these.

I love these watering globes for when I'm out of town for an extended period of town. These are made of a thickER glass, super decorative and hold alot of water. The key with them not only being bigger and holding more water is that the larger opening makes them much easier and quicker to fill. Highly recommend!

These are really attractive. They are easy to fill & the globe is clear enough to see the water level. It is important to put them in the pot at an angle or the water will drain out immediately. I watered my plant then put the full globes in the pot. I used two for a larger pot with a cherry tomato plant. The globes didn’t start draining for a few days when the plant dried out.
