I purchased these for a project that has wooden knobs and ajustable feet and shelves. these worked very well for all three.

I purchased these for the price, which is like a tenth of what I'd spend at my local hardware store or a big box store. I suspected I'd get a few duds with defective internal threads but that was not the case — I tested each of the 40 pieces in my set and the internal threads all worked fine with a 1/4-20 threaded foot. That's not to say YOU won't get some duds, just that I did not.I'm also super happy with this mfr's range of available sizes — I felt as if I had some good choice in customizing the insert size to the threaded feet I was using, as well as how far into my project's legs I wanted to go.As far as installing them, I cannot speak to hardwoods right now, but in the soft wood I was using, they were completely painless. I stepped up my drill bit sizes one by one, slowly, always checking level in two directions (I was unable to fit my particular project into a drill press), and I installed them into the legs also very slowly, and also always checking level in two directions.I definitely recommend this product and I will almost certainly buy again.

I just discovered these little guys and they open your world of possibilities up a little farther. They hold in the wood very well. I used them so that I could bolt on a door for mobile home skirting. Works great!

Using these inserts to provide the 1/4 - 20 threaded holes I need in bottoms of dining chair legs so I can add some nice swivel glides. These worked perfectly. I used a 3/8" drill which provided a good fit for the inserts. You need to screw the inserts into the 3/8" holes. It's a tight fit so I lubricated the outside of the inserts with some melted candle wax to make installation easier and I used a long handle 6mm hex wrench to turn the inserts.

I used these on a solid Cherry fold down 4 stage conversion crib/bed I made for my daughter, she was expecting with my second grand baby.. and was looking for something that would make assembly and the conversions simple and easy..Simply put, the Crib is rock solid with these things.. I used 3 in the head board and foot board on each side for the side panels and 3 on each side of the foot board to hold the fold down panel/toddler bed insert panels in and then another 16 for the 2 height adjustable crib mattress support.. 8 for each height adjustment.. locking it to the head and foot board with an L bracket..I wanted to use one tool for all assembly and adjustments, these made it easy to do.. using 1/4-20 cap head screws for everything.. I used a 21/64 or .328 drill for the holes being that the minor thread dia is .322 with calibers..

I found the internal threads to be a decent fit as a stand nut bolt bought from the hardware store. The external threads are not sharp and would not expect them to bite into hard woods. I ended up grinding three groves in the side of one of them to create a makeshift tap to pre-tread holes in oak. Then applied an expanding urethane glue. these worked great as connections in furniture. I will use these again in future projects.

I have seen these used in tonnes of Youtube videos and finally decided to try them out. They were a little long for the project i had bought them for, but I used them in another project that I had sitting on the side and they really impressed me!... Very easy to install (I used a 1/4" drill bit before using a 3/8" to finish the hole) and really hold amazingly well ... Great for those projects that you want to be able to take apart!

I found it best to drill a 1/4' Pilot hole through both materials together, then a 3/8' Hole for the insert. I also found that a M6-1.00 machine screw worked perfectly .I used to hold a attic hatch in place, and I can easily undo the machine screws when I need to open the hatch for inspection.
