Method 1. Remove your laptop back cover to check your original battery’s part number, shape. Then search the part number to find the replacment battery.
Method 2. Check your specific laptop model name. (method: Press [Win] + [R] key , enter [msinfo32] or [dxdiag] , then click OK to find your system model. Find the replacement battery base on your laptop model name.
About compatibility:
1. This 40Wh M5Y1K battery is only compatible with some of the Dell Inspiron 14 15 17 3000 5000 series models but not all. Please find out your specific model name! (E.g.Inspiron 15 5000 (5566). You may purchase the wrong battery if you only base on the laptop series!

Great battery! Fits perfectly in our Dell 15 5555 laptop. At first, it only charged up to 95%, but after following the calibration instructions provided with the battery, it now charges up to 100%.We bought it only two days ago, so we're still monitoring the battery to determine how long it holds its charge. So far, it's yielding between 3 to 4 hours when using the laptop in balanced mode.The other, pleasant surprise about this battery is that it's recognized by Dell's Quickset application, so we can easily monitor the battery charge at all times. Way to go!

Ordered this battery for a Dell Inspiron 15 5000. Came quickly, installed very easily, worked fine from May to August 2024. The battery saver is set to shut down after 10 minutes, so battery is not being used 24/7. It is also usually turned off in the evening. At the beginning of August it just slowly started loosing power. I did the whole diagnostic routine, which said the battery was healthy, but not charging. Took the battery out, restarted several times. The charger is brand new, directly from Dell. I did a hard reset and everything else the Dell assistant recommended. Now it is at 0 and not charging. Fortunately, the charger is fine so I can still use the laptop, but I often use it when giving presentations where I cannot plug it in. A battery direct from Dell is over $100. Will probably end up buying a different brand from Amazon again and cross my fingers.
